Greatest Sermon Ever

I've been increasingly attracted to Christian radicals, realizing that the path following Christ is the greatest act of rebellion. Whatever the world says is truth, it is actually a lie. Whatever the world says is light, it is almost always utmost darkness. In fact, if you want to know whether it's about God kingdom, you can measure it simply by holding it against how the world sees it. They are always opposed to each other.

And if you want to know what God's kingdom looks like, just listen to the sermon preached by Shane Claiborne, who is indeed a radical. A few years ago, Shane was invited by Youth Specialities held in San Diego to speak in front of thousands of youth workers. He got up and announced he was going to preach the greatest sermon ever and then proceeded to read the Sermon on the Mount. At the end of it, he simply walked off the platform and shocked everyone, even the organizers.

If you too find yourself like many that night asking "is that all?" and find it less than compelling, then you have yet to truly understand what is being preached here. If you find such truths are reserved for radicals and that it's alright to be a lukewarm Christian, then you fail to understand what it means to follow Christ and His Kingdom. Through the teaching of the Spirit, I will spend the rest of my days trying to understand and live out Matthew 5-6 because it will take that long to wrap my life around it. No need to ask God what His will is for my life. His Kingdom is His will.

Note: if the volume is too low, you can follow it in the Word - word for word.
