Don't Be a Yugo
11 more days!
Today, I share another update re: the state of modern culture. It is an article regarding the American's Top Goal in Life. I don't believe that any of what is on this list is bad or inherently evil. The only problem is that it's not high enough. Our lives and vision for our life is characterized by smallness compared to what we are capable of or designed to do when we live it for our Creator's purposes. My favorite analogy is this: imagine if you drove a Ferrari 15 miles per hour on the local city streets. What would the designer of the this exotic car have to say about how you are driving his creation?
----------------
One in three Americans say their higest priority is to own their own business, according to a new survey in the August/September issue of SUCCESS magazine.
The uncertain economy coupled with across-the-board layoffs and job cuts are reasons the publication cites for people wanting business ownership to have more control over their financial futures.
Among other top goals in the survey of more than 2,800 adults:
Retire early, 31%
Raise a family, 16%
Purchase a dream house, 10%
Get in shape, 10%
Now here’s the scary part: SUCCESS did a follow-up survey found that 20% of the 1,200 Americans polled have no life goals.
Surprised by that response, Publisher and Editorial Director Darren Hardy has developed a list of 27 resources to help people get on the path to success.
Among the resources:
A written list of personal goals:
Electronic bill payment - saves time
Contact database - “You cannot become successful as a hermit”
Good dress shoes - Quality, style and how you take care of your shoes say a lot about you.
----
Note: out of 27 resources to help people get on the path of success, I wonder where God's Word is on the list? This is foolishness when we live our lives without the Book of Life....we were made to be Ferraris but run around like we're a Yugo.

Thanks, and hope all is well, Lyn at IJM
Hi Lyn,
Thanks for you post, which I read after I posted my entry today for Just Courage. What an amazing book (I ordered it from Amazon a few weeks ago) and the website will also be a great resource to invite others in the fight.
Be strong & COURAGEOUS!
Russ
