Praises & Requests

Praising Lord Jesus for the following:

- the preliminary response from my employer’s human resources (HR) department informing me of some really good news about my accrued paid leave when I return and rehired. This was such great news for me after their denial of the LOA and another revelation of our Heavenly Father’s faithfulness to our family.

- My small group brother, Dave H. who spoke so much truth into me last night. We sat together for a couple hours and he encouraged me in so many ways. Dave reminded me not to neglect my family and myself when I am working and focused on my mission abroad. He will hold me accountable also and I praise God for him. We also talked about family, fathers, in-laws, our children, etc. It was all good.

- Sisters, Bethany F. & Sarah of Rock Harbor Church and their work for justice and their willingness to share some materials with me.

- Brother, Trevin also of Rock Harbor for contacting me this week and asking how he can pray for our family.

- My home church for allowing me to present the Justice Mission curriculum for the next three weeks.

- For our friends, Pete & Liz who invited us to their new place a couple weeks ago for Sabbath Lunch. Liz made a fabulous lunch and Pete played like a mad-dog with our son, Sei, who loves Uncle Pete and Auntie Liz. They also offered to give Hana their old digital camera. And to finish off a great time, they prayed over us. Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary!

- For our friends, Steve & Natasha, who invited us to their new place last week. Natasha made a fabulous dinner! They are expecting their first child – a baby girl this summer. We can’t wait to see her when we return in 2009.

- For our friends, Kha & Alicia for having Megumi and the boys over for lunch a few days ago. Sei came back so happy with some shoes and candy! We are praying for them in a special way this week.

-For our friends and former neighbors, Phil & Lucia, for giving all those sturdy moving boxes. We started packing up some stuff!

-For FACEBOOK – I’ve been connecting with some long lost friends from Loma Linda Academy Class of 1988. We can’t wait to see them all at our 20th Class Reunion in July (right before we leave).

- For all of our other friends and family who are praying for us. We are encouraged by all of you.

We need your prayers for the following:

-That we find the right people to rent our place for a year. We have a few people interested so we await their decision.

-That our home church, Orange Coast Church, be stirred to have a heart and desire to support the work of justice. I will be leading out in a three-week class at our church this week using the International Justice Mission’s curriculum (initially designed for youth ministry). I will be using their material and at some point sharing my plans to serve with IJM. It’s at 10-11 am on Saturdays (May 10, 17, 24) in Irvine. I’d love to see and talk with any of you in person.

- For Hana, and her anxiety about being away from her classmates for a year. Pray that God will touch her in a powerful and special way.

- And again, please pray for my wife Megumi and our children. Pray that we learn to trust in God the way that our children are trusting in us. We need child-like faith at this time. Pray that God will strengthen Megumi’s faith. Her parents, who live in Japan and are not Christian, do not seem to be as supportive about our plans and have asked us to further explain our decision and plans for our future. Of course we want to be a witness to them, but I struggle with this because of a lack of courage. Megumi’s father is coming to visit us next week for 10 days – Megumi and I are a bit anxious about this.

- The people of Myanmar. That there be an outpouring of God's spirit over that country and the rest of the world as all of us help them through this unfathomable tragedy.
