We Need Help!
As an Aftercare Fellow here at IJM Cebu, my primary assignment during my time here is working on an economic self-sufficiency project to help the women we rescue transition back into financial independence. As you can imagine, the challenges of preparing survivors of trafficking for reintegration back into their communities are immense. Employment is just one piece, but an important one nonetheless. For the last couple months we have been looking for partners in the business community who can possibly provide vocational training, internships, and job placements, and who would be willing to work with a team of social workers and other support networks in making sure that the women have the support they need to succeed in the work place. The project is quite ambitious and obviously demands a wide range of time, expertise, and skill, many of which I lack. After discussions with our consultant and field office directors, we decided the need for additional help from someone who has experience in handling the business networking and relations part of the project.
IJM just posted the position on their website for a Business Relations Fellowship here in Cebu. We are looking for someone who can and will:
- Develop a strategy to increase the awareness of sex trafficking within the local business community in Cebu
- Mobilize local business stakeholders in providing job placements for IJM clients with the following target industries: food, clothing, hotel and tourism, cosmetology, business process outsourcing, facilities management, and fashion accessories
- Conduct a survey and analysis of corporate social responsibility programs within IJM’s target industries in Cebu
- Organize business stakeholder meetings as a form for socially-minded businesses to learn more about partnership opportunities with IJM and other anti-trafficking organizations
The qualifications and required skills include the following:
- Masters Degree in Business Administration plus business development and management experience OR
- Bachelors Degree in a relevant field plus extensive business development and management experience
- Experience with social enterprise development preferred
For more details you can click here for more information about the position and how to apply.
Obviously if you or someone you know would be interested in this intriguing opportunity, we would love to hear from you/them. At IJM, some of us call the job listings a search for a unicorn - people that don't exist in the natural world. So please pray that God will call-up and lead a person with a servant's heart and a business-mind to join us here in Cebu.
PS. If you're a social worker, you will find Aftercare Fellowship openings in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Bolivia, Guatemala, and the India offices. Take your pick.
